Environmental Management and Technology at Merritt College in Oakland, California
Field Program: A series of field-based
workshops on topics such as water quality
monitoring, erosion control, invasive plant
removal, native plant propagation, and
watershed assessment.

Reference Library: The Watershed
Center houses a reference library of local
watershed plans, resource documents,
and publications. The Center is also
compiling a comprehensive inventory of
East Bay watershed organizations and
agencies.

Watershed Forum: The Forum is
envisioned as a network for East Bay
creek and watershed groups to share
ideas, pool resources, and collaborate on
programs. Participants include local creek
groups, non-profit organizations, and
agencies. The Forum is also working to
build networking opportunities throughout
Alameda County.

Science Program: Staff members
support science-based monitoring and
assessment activities with assistance in
using appropriate protocols, project
design, database development, and
information sharing.

The East Bay Watershed Center at Merritt College:

The East Bay Watershed Center is a resource center serving the creek and watershed
community of the East Bay. This project is currently housed at the Merritt College
Environmental Center. Its purpose is to facilitate local watershed stewardship and
management by citizen groups, schools, planners, land owners, businesses, elected
officials - in short, anyone with an interest in watersheds.

The main geographic area served by the Watershed Center stretches from Richmond
south to San Leandro.

Programs and resources at the Watershed Center include:
A volunteer participates in a water quality
monitoring workshop.  
Community Assistance: Watershed Center staff help connect community members
with resources on topics such as watershed assessment, creek restoration, permitting,
and funding.

Meeting Place: The Watershed Center can provide use of its facility to groups
needing meeting space.
